The idea of construction of Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Shipyard Colony, Visakhapatnam was mooted in the year 1952 by late Sri JR Mutyalayya and Smt. Lakshmi Narasamma. In 1954, they were selected as Sai Pracharaks by the All India Sai Samaj. The Hindustan Shipyard Management allotted 500 sq.yds of area in Shipyard Colony and the temple construction started with the generous donations received from the devotees all over the world at the initiative taken by
Late Sri Alapati- Narasinga Rao, IFS the then Secretary of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The temple construction could be completed and Shri Shridi Sai Baba's lifesize marble statue was installed in the Temple on Vijaya Dasami day in the year 1974. Since then the temple developed stage by stage and now it has Dwarakamai- Dhuni, Gurusthan, Lendi Bagh, a big hall for conducting functions/ festivals, Bhajans, discourses etc.
